i love dreammoods

Construction
To see construction in your dream, signifies a new surge of energy, growth, ambition and renewed confidence. It may also represent the rebuilding of your own life.

To dream that a building is under construction, suggests that you need to work on some aspect of yourself and better your mind or body.

Bubblegum
To chew bubblegum in your dream, represents your overly carefree attitude. You need to take life a little more seriously.

Gum
To dream that you are chewing gum, suggests that you are unable to express yourself effectively. You may feel vulnerable. Alternatively, it symbolizes a sticky situation that you are involved in.
To dream that you are unable to get rid of your gum, suggests that you are experiencing some indecision, powerlessness or frustration. You may lack understanding in a situation or find that a current problem is overwhelming. The gum in your mouth is a metaphor for something that you are trying to process or digest. Perhaps you feel that you have bitten off more than you can chew.

Spit
To spit in your dream, signifies an aspect of yourself that you need to get rid of. Spitting represents anger, spite and contempt. Alternatively, the dream implies that you have something that you want to say. Spit it out!

Scales
To see a scale in your dream, signifies a decision that you need to make. Alternatively, the scales mean that you need to look at a situation from a rational perspective. Don't be so black and white about everything. Consider the gray area in the situation.

To dream that you are standing on a bathroom scale, represents concerns about your weight and your image. You are preoccupied with your physical shape and appearance. Perhaps you need to stop comparing yourself to the standards of others.
To see fish scales in your dream, represent your protective barrier. You have put up a defensive wall around yourself. If you are descaling a fish, then it means that you are starting to break down your emotional barriers.

Weighing
To dream that you are weighing something, indicates that you are trying to determine the worth of something. Or perhaps you are trying to "weigh" your options in some waking situation. Consider the significance of what is being weighed.

How Creative Are You by Purely Paige

How Creative Are You?

Sunday, September 5, 2010|
I ran across some interesting articles on the common traits of a creative personalities. How many of these traits do you have? Are you a creative person?

1) Energetic - Creative people have a great deal of physical energy, but they're also often quiet and at rest. They work long hours, with great concentration, while projecting an aura of freshness and enthusiasm. . It seems that their energy is internally generated, due more to their focused minds than to the superiority of their genes. This does not mean that creative people are hyperactive, always "on." In fact, they rest often and sleep a lot. The important thing is that they control their energy; it's not ruled by the calendar, the dock, an external schedule. When necessary, they can focus it like a laser beam; when not, creative types immediately recharge their batteries. They consider the rhythm of activity followed by idleness or reflection very important for the success of their work. This is not a bio-rhythm inherited with their genes; it was learned by trial and error as a strategy for achieving their goals.

2) Wisdom & Childishness - Contrasting poles of wisdom and childishness. As Howard Gardner remarked in his study of the major creative geniuses of this century, a certain immaturity, both emotional and mental, can go hand in hand with deepest insights. Mozart comes immediately to mind.
People who bring about an acceptable novelty in a domain seem able to use well two opposite ways of thinking: the convergent and the divergent. Convergent thinking is measured by IQ tests, and it involves solving well-defined, rational problems that have one correct answer. Divergent thinking leads to no agreed-upon solution. It involves fluency, or the ability to generate a great quantity of ideas; flexibility, or the ability to switch from one perspective to another; and originality in picking unusual associations of ideas. These are the dimensions of thinking that most creativity tests measure and that most workshops try to enhance.

3)Extroverted and Inverted - Creative people tend to be both. We're usually one or the other, either preferring to be in the thick of crowds or sitting on the sidelines and observing the passing show. In fact, in psychological research, extroversion and introversion are considered the most stable personality traits that differentiate people from each other and that can be reliably measured. Creative individuals, on the other hand, seem to exhibit both traits simultaneously.

4) Humble and Proud - It is remarkable to meet a famous person who you expect to be arrogant or supercilious, only to encounter self-deprecation and shyness instead. Yet there are good reasons why this should be so. These individuals are well aware that they stand, in Newton's words, "on the shoulders of giants." Their respect for the area in which they work makes them aware of the long line of previous contributions to it, putting their own in perspective. They're also aware of the role that luck played in their own achievements. And they're usually so focused on future projects and current challenges that past accomplishments, no matter how outstanding, are no longer very interesting to them. At the same time, they know that in comparison with others, they have accomplished a great deal. And this knowledge provides a sense of security, even pride.

5) Not of a gender stereotype - When tests of masculinity/femininity are given to young people, over and over one finds that creative and talented girls are more dominant and tough than other girls, and creative boys are more sensitive and less aggressive than their male peers. This tendency toward androgyny is sometimes understood in purely sexual terms, and therefore it gets confused with homosexuality. But psychological androgyny is a much wider concept referring to a person's ability to be at the same time aggressive and nurturant, sensitive and rigid, dominant and submissive, regardless of gender. A psychologically androgynous person in effect doubles his or her repertoire of responses. Creative individuals are more likely to have not only the strengths of their own gender but those of the other one, too.

6) Open-ended - In order to explore many possibilities creative people tend to stay open-ended about answers or solutions until many have been produced.

7) Independent - Creative people crave and require a high degree of independence, resist dependence but often can thrive on beneficial inter-dependence.

8) Sensitive - Being sensitive helps creativeness in many ways:it helps with awareness of problems, it helps people sense things easier, it helps to cause people to care and commit themselves to challenges or causes.

9) Not motivated by money - As important as money is in most societies or economies it is not a driving force for a creative person. Generally they have an intuitive sense of the amount of money they basically need and once that need is fulfilled then money stops affecting or driving them.

10) Adaptable - Without the ability to adapt, people could not become creative. Creativity thrives on fresh ideas and sights. Often creative people travel or have a desire to travel.

11) Observant - Creative people constantly are using their senses: consciously, sub-consciously and unconsciously, evennon-consciously.

12) See possibilities - Average people, people who don't believe they are creative, people who are fearful or resistant to creativeness or creative thinking prefer to work within limits with limited possibilities. Creative people love to see many, even infinite possibilities in most situations or challenges.

13) Can synthesize correctly often intuitively - This is the ability to see the whole picture, see patterns, grasp solutions with only a few pieces, even with major pieces missing. Creative people trust their intuition, even if it isn't right 100% of the time.

14) Flexible - Creative People are very flexible when they are playing with ideas. They love to look at things from multiple points of view and to produce piles of answers, maybes, almosts, when other people are content with theanswer or solution.

15) Sense of humor - Laughter and creativity truly go together. Many experts believe that creativity can't occur without a touch of humor believing that seriousness tends to squelch creativeness or creative thinking.

16) Self-disciplined -This is one trait that appears to be ambiguous in highly creative people. They can appear disorganized, chaotic at times while at the same time they are highly self-disciplined. At the same time they greatly resist the discipline of other people who are not of like creative mind. Can be seen as careless and disorganized, especially with matters they consider trivial. Absentmindedness and forgetfulness are common. Can FIND ORDER in confusion and discover hidden meaning in information. Research and critical thinking are key tools for the creative person. Information is to the brain what food is to the stomach. So-called “writer’s block” or creative burnout almost always results from a lack of fresh information and having nothing meaningful to say.
17) Self-knowledgeable - During my life I have read biographies and biographic sketches or over 4,000 people, mostly considered to be the highest of the highly creatives in their respective fields. One of the few things they had in common is that they all kept some form of journal and were constantly striving to better understand themselves.

18) Specific interests - This is still another ambiguous trait of creative people. They appear on the surface to be interested in everything, while at the same time they have very specific interests that they commit their true energies and efforts to. By being willing to be exposed to seemingly unlimited interests they discover more about their particular specific interests.

19) Open-up easily - They often share much more personal information about themselves quicker than the average person. This enables them to easily connect with people on deeper level which often inspires their creativity.

20) Perfectionist - Not usually in life, but a perfectionist when they are creating something. Often this causes them to restart a project because it wasn't perfectly how they invisioned it, this can be very self-detrimental because it can cause them to get burnt out and procrastinate on their next project.

Champagne and Sparkling Wine

What's the difference between Champagne and Sparkling Wine?

The Champagne we know and love comes exclusively from the Champagne region of France, and claims the honor of being the most famous of the sparkling wines. Technically, it is the only sparkling wine that may be referred to as "Champagne." Bubbly from all other regions in the world are simply referred to as "sparkling wine." Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and the U.S. give France a run for the money by producing some fantastic sparkling wines and they are often less expensive.

What are typical Aromas and Flavors found in Sparkling Wine and Champagne?

Aroma – can be reminiscent of fresh applesauce, spiced apple, ripe pear and “fresh baked bread” smells, compliments of the yeast that's added during the second fermentation.

Flavor – apple, pear, citrus, strawberry, cream and vanilla (typically on the finish), yeast and nutty flavors are all common denominators in Sparkling wines and Champagnes. However, if there is more ripe tree fruit on the palate, then it is likely one of the New World sparkling wines, the more subtle creamy, yeast and nut-like flavors are more common in Old World Champagne.

Where do the Bubbles Come from in Sparkling Wines?

The bubbles of sparkling wines are formed during a second fermentation process. For the second fermentation the winemaker takes still wine and adds a few grams of sugar and a few grams of yeast. This yeast and sugar convert to carbon dioxide (bubbles) and, of course alcohol. This conversion makes for millions of bubbles trapped in a very small space, sending the pressure soaring to about 80 psi in the typical bottle of sparkling wine. This second fermentation typically occurs in the actual bottle, but can also take place in the fermentation tank, it's up to the winemaker's preferred method.

How are Sparkling Wines Classified?

Sparkling wines and Champagnes are categorized as Extra Brut, Brut (pronounced "broot"),Extra dry, Sec and Demi-sec depending on their sugar levels. These classifications can be somewhat confusing, but keep in mind, that in wine terms "dry" is the opposite of "sweet."

Extra Brut - is "extra" dry

Brut – dry (most popular style and very food-friendly)

Extra dry – middle of the road dry, not as dry as Brut (great as an aperitif)

Demi-sec – pretty sweet (pair with fruit and dessert)

Champagne and sparkling wines are also categorized as "vintage" or "non-vintage" (NV on the label) meaning they either come from a single year or are a blend of several different years. The "vintage" Champagnes are typically pricier, as the non-vintage Champagne and sparkling wines make up the majority of the market.

Food Pairing

Here is a quick guide to get you started on simple, but remarkable food pairing options for various sparkling wines and Champagnes.

French and U.S. Champagne / Sparkling wines:

Brie & Gouda, buttered popcorn, shrimp and shellfish, salami, veggies, smoked salmon, stuffed mushrooms, sweet bread and marscapone cheese, fruit-based desserts, shortbread cookies (really fun pairing combo. as the acidity in Champagne cuts through the butter of the cookie).

Rosé Sparkling Wines:

Brie, Prosciutto, smoked salmon, chocolate, raspberries, chocolate covered berries

Cava:

Brie & Gouda, olives, almonds, potato chips, smoked salmon, Prosciutto

Asti:

Almonds, cheesecake, raspberries, cookies

Prosecco:

Almonds, Brie & Gouda, Prosciutto, smoked salmon

Red Wine Style

As with all wines, the particular winemaker will have adequate “say” in the style of wine he will produce. That said, red wines are often classified by “body-type.” For example, one might say that a certain red wine is “light-bodied” – referring to the mouth-feel and tannin structure. A light-bodied wine will have fewer tannins present and less presence on the palate. These wines tend to be less demanding partners with flavor-filled foods. An example of a light-bodied red wine would be one derived from the Gamay grape varietal, such as France’s famed young red wine: Beaujolais Nouveau. A medium-bodied red wine will contain more tannins than the above Beaujolais Nouveau, but will not have near the pucker power of a high-powered California Cabernet Sauvignon or an Italian Super Tuscan. Typical examples of medium-bodied red wines include: Merlot, Shiraz or a Chianti. Full-bodied red wines boast the highest tannin (and often alcohol) content. Prime examples of full-bodied reds are France’s esteemed Bordeaux wines, California’s key Cabs and Italy’s sizzling Super Tuscans. In general, light-bodied wines tend to “feel” more like water in the mouth. In contrast, “full-bodied” wines feel heavier, more like milk, this effect is due in large part to the higher tannin (and again, alcohol) content.

Key Red Wine Varietals

The top red wine varietals that you are likely to encounter are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Malbec, and Grenache.

Sometimes, you will hear of red wines referred to by their popular regional names. For example, a "Bordeaux" is a red wine from France that is made primarily from three varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes. Or move to ordering a wine from Italy and you will often hear of a Chianti- made from the Sangiovese grape varietal, or look at Piedmont's Barolo or Barbaresco wines (both of which hail from the Nebbiolo varietal).

Some more reds

Stacy Slinkard
Wine Guide

Some of the most common red wines that you are likely to encounter are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Chianti, Barolo, Barberesco, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Malbec, Tempranillo, Grenache, Bordeaux, and Côtes du Rhône.

Beaujolais Nouveau

Definition: A very young wine grown from the Gamay grape in the Beaujolais region (part of Burgundy) of France. This wine is released annually on the third Thursday of November.
Flavor Profile:This is a light, fruity wine that is virtually free of tannins. Flavors of strawberry and raspberry dominate along with a grapey appeal. Beaujolais Nouveau is meant to be served chilled, around 55 degrees Farenheit.

Food Pairing: As far as complementary food pairings, this wine is a terrific accompaniment for a traditional Thanksgiving meal, working well with both light and dark meats, herbs and many other flavors that are a part of the festivities. Due to its food-friendliness, this wine will also pair well with grilled or roasted meats, a variety of pastas, salads and cheeses.

Cabernet Franc

Definition: A thin-skinned red grape that grows particularly well in cooler climates, and is originally from the Bourdeaux and Loire Valley regions of France. The Cabernet Franc has been grown with success in France, Australia, Chile, Canada, South Africa, California and Washington, producing a fruity wine that is softer and more subdued than its regal relative, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Flavor Profile: With lower tannin levels and more distinct berry (mainly blueberry, raspberry and sometimes plum) flavor, Cabernet Franc is an ideal candidate for blending with other varietals such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. However, more producers have been selling Cabernet Franc as a stand alone, single varietal on merchant shelves with notable success.

Food Pairings: poultry, lasagna, couscous with meat, Middle Eastern fare, veggie pizza, and Greek cuisine.

Chianti

Chianti wines are red wines produced in Tuscany's Chianti region. The dominant grape used in making Chianti is Sangiovese. When you hear the word "Chianti," visions of cute bottles of wine based in a straw-like basket may come to mind; however, times have changed and while some producers still dress their Chiantis in baskets, many more are giving them the svelte sophistication of the traditional 750 ml red wine bottle.

Lagrein

Definition: Lagrein is a red wine grape that hails from northern Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region. It is a cousin of Pinot Noir and Syrah. It typically puts forth a fairly red to dark berry fruit flavor on the palate, along with a rugged earthiness and a good bit of pepper. Lagrein can be a little rougher around the edges than it's Pinot Noir and Syrah relatives, with a fairly tannic profile. As a wine with a more acidic nature, it tends to put its best food forward with food. Give Lagrein a go with fish, poultry, game, or a few slices of dry-cured speck, its favorite hometown ham (basically Alto Adige's version of prosciutto or similar to Spain's famed jamón).

Malbec

Definition: Originating from the Bordeaux region of France, this grape is among the "big six" for red wine grapes. However, with the exception of Cahors, its fame and fortune in France often end there, as Malbec is generally a grape used for blending, with very little vine being devoted to its improvement or success. The story in Argentina is quite the opposite. Malbec has found both fame and glory in the sun-drenched climate of Argentina. This is Argentina's signature grape and it is quickly making a new name for itself with red wine lovers.
Flavor Profile:

Malbec is typically a medium to full-bodied red wine. Ripe fruit flavors of plums and blackberry give it a jammy characteristic. The tannins are typically a bit tight and the earthy, wood-like appeal makes for a fairly rustic, yet versatile wine.

Food Pairings: Definitely a red meat wine that is adaptable enough to stand up to spicy Mexican, Cajun, Indian or Italian fare (especially with tomato-based sauces). Consider giving Malbec a go with barbecue, chili and sausage.

Nebbiolo

Definition: Nebbiolo grapes grown predominantly in the Piedmont region of Italy produce some of Italy's greatest red wines, Barolo and Barbaresco. Despite its fickle growing and fermentation nature, these grapes are surprisingly resistant to disease and mold.

Flavor Profile:The Nebbiolo grape is typically characterized by the flavors of sweet fruits like blackberry and cherry, with high acidity levels and tough tannins.

Food Pairings: This is a grape varietal that welcomes the challenge of being paired with strong, flavorful meats and cheeses and will compete well with spicy Italian meats and well-aged Parmesan cheese.

Sangiovese

Definition: Italy's most commonly planted red grape varietal, boasting over a dozen distinct clones, is a thin-skinned grape that tends to linger longer on the vine, takes its time to mature. Central Italy, specifically the region of Tuscany, is the agricultural heartland of the Sangiovese grape.

Italian Chianti and Chianti Classico wines are prime examples of popular wines produced predominantly from Sangiovese. Typically Sangiovese grapes make medium to full-bodied wines with tannin structure ranging from medium-soft to firm. Dominate flavors associated with Sangiovese derived wines include: cherry, plum, strawberry, cinnamon and vanilla. There is often a herbaceous quality associated with Sangiovese wines. As for acidity levels, Sangiovese leans towards medium to high acidity content. The finish can range from elegant to bitter.

Food Pairings: Well-matched for the flavors of chicken, red meat, fish, lamb, pork, pastas, stews or well-aged cheeses.

Tempranillo

Definition: The Tempranillo grape is the dominant grape varietal in Spain's Rioja wines. It produces a medium to full-bodied red wine with lower acidity and full fruit flavor characteristics. These wines are grown primarily in the Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions of Spain.

Flavor Profile - Tempranillo wines have characteristic flavors of plum, cherry, and strawberry often mixed with an earthy minerality.

Food Pairings - Tempranillo wines are perhaps one of the most food friendly wines around. They offer versatility and value - without forsaking flavor and lift. Consider pairing them with their hometown favorites - tapas, pork, grilled or roasted entrees.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon, often referred to as the “King of Red Wine Grapes,” originally from Bordeaux, with a substantial foothold in California’s wine races, has the privilege of being the world’s most sought after red wine. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes tend to favor warmer climates and are often an ideal wine for aging, with 5-10 years being optimal for the maturation process to peak. Because Cabs take a bit longer to reach maturation, allowing their flavors to mellow, they are ideal candidates for blending with other grapes, primarily Merlot. This blending softens the Cabernet, adding appealing fruit tones, without sacrificing its innate character.

Cabs range from medium-bodied to full-bodied and are characterized by their high tannin content which serves to provide structure and intrigue while supporting the rich fruit characteristics. The flavor profile includes plum, cherry, blackberry, blueberry, warm spice, vanilla, tobacco and sometimes leather aromas and or flavors.

Food Pairings: red meats, flavorful and heartier (red) pastas, lamb, strong-flavored cheese, and chocolates (especially dark).

Merlot

The classic Merlot grape originated from the Bordeaux region of France. It typically produces a soft, medium-bodied red wine with juicy fruit flavors.

Flavor Profile: A range of fresh flavors such as plums, cherries, blueberries and blackberries mixed with cocoa and blackpepper tones, often dominate this type of red wine. The tannin levels are typically lower than say a Cab and the fruit flavors are typically forward - making this a prime wine candidate for consumers just "getting into" red wines. Merlot is often used to blend with other varietals, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. By blending Merlot with these wines, a symbiotic relationship can exist. The Cabs are softened, mellowed a bit and the Merlot enjoys more structured and defined.

Food Pairing: Fairly versatile when it comes to food pairing options. Poultry, red meat, pork, pastas, salads - Merlot can handle them all well.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir may be the toughest grape to grow, but the effort is often well worth the constant care and investment. It is a fickle grape that demands optimum growing conditions, opting for warm days consistently supported by cool evenings. As for style, Pinot Noir is typically a lighter-bodied, fruit-forward red wine.

Pinot Noir is Burgundy's most famous Noble grape. Known and loved as "Red Burgundy" in much of the world, Pinot Noir can be among the most elegant wines coming out of France. Today, Pinot Noir is planted in regions around the world including: Oregon, California, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Italy.

Due to the stringent growing requirements for Pinot Noir, it is produced in much smaller quantities than other popular red wines. Traditionally, you will also pay a little more for Pinot Noir, as the “supply and demand” theories kick in. However, for an excellent value you may consider the Mark West Pinot Noir at just $10 a pop, you will be hard pressed to find a better price for a truly delightful Pinot Noir.

Flavor Profile: It’s flavors are reminiscent of sweet red berries, plums, tomatoes, cherries and at times a notable earthy or wood-like flavor, depending on specific growing conditions.

Food Pairing: Pinot Noir is well-suited to pair with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. It will play well with creamy sauces, spicy seasonings and may just be one of the world's most versatile food wines.

Zinfandel

The Zinfandel grape has been a cornerstone of the California viticulture scene since the mid-1800s. Originally thought to be a native grape from Italy, research carried out in the last 10 to 12 years has revealed that Zinfandel's original roots were firmly planted in Croatia. Regardless of its Old World beginnings, it is a dynamic red grape that has made itself quite at home in the New World. This versatile varietal is known and loved undercover as "White Zin" by some and "Zinfandel" by red wine enthusiasts. Old vine Zins, made from vines that are typically 50+ years, are coveted for their intensity - in flavor, color and balanced overall style.

White Zinfandel wine is made from the red Zinfandel grape, but the grape skins are quickly removed after they are crushed so there is significantly less contact time with the heavily pigmented red grape skin, resulting in a pink/rose colored wine, instead of a deep red wine.

Zinfandel, meaning the red wine, is known for its rich, dark color scheme, medium to high tannin levels and a higher alcohol content. The Zinfandel feature flavors include: raspberry, blackberry, cherry, plums, raisins, spice and blackpepper all wrapped around various intensities of oak.

Food Pairings: White Zinfandel pairs well with a massive variety of foods, ranging from Cajun fare to Asian fare, from BBQ chicken to heavy-duty seafood entrees.

Zinfandel pairs well with plenty of meat: lamb, poultry, beef, game and some fish, under a variety of cooking styles (grilled, stewed, braised) and continues to showcase it's versatility with tried and true pairing favorites like fish tacos, spicy fare or simply brats and burgers.

Wine Guide

Food Pairing

Fairly versatile when it comes to food pairing options. Poultry, red meat, pork, pastas, salads - Merlot can handle them all well.

Pinot Noir

Due to the stringent growing requirements for Pinot Noir, it is produced in much smaller quantities than other popular red wines. Traditionally, you will also pay a little more for Pinot Noir, as the “supply and demand” theories kick in. However, for an excellent value you may consider the Mark West Pinot Noir at just $10 a pop, you will be hard pressed to find a better price for a truly delightful Pinot Noir.

Flavor Profile:

It’s flavors are reminiscent of sweet red berries, plums, tomatoes, cherries and at times a notable earthy or wood-like flavor, depending on specific growing conditions.

Food Pairing

Pinot Noir is well-suited to pair with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. It will play well with creamy sauces, spicy seasonings and may just be one of the world's most versatile food wines.

What is the difference between art and design?

There is somewhat of a segregation between the (fine) art world and design world. My opinion is they both worlds belong to the world of "art".

Both worlds require many of the same talents (a mind open to visual possibilities); skill (an eye for balance and harmony); knowledge (of color and shape); experience and style (one has to develop their own flavor/edge to offer and to do that there is a lot of practice and refining involved); learned technique/methods (whether it's brushstrokes or photoshop); and last but not least passion and dedication (definitely not something you can accomplish over night).

The differences I've observed: (fine) artists are free creators who generate pieces that express their individual style and flavor and designers come up with creative solutions to a goal or problem that tends to be more commercial. My take on it is that one is more emotional, organic, and self serving, while the other is more objective, methodical, and marketable.

The essence of both worlds is to create visual displays for an audience (even if it is just for an audience of one) to share an emotion (whether it to share a message or to evoke a certain reaction). The way I see it the methods may be different but the line being so thin, a designer can easily be an artist and an artist can easily be a designer. How ab

dreams lately

To dream that you are a chef, indicates that you have the ability, knowledge, and talent to chose your path in life. You know what course of action you need to take and are moving forward in a productive manner. And you have learned from your previous life experiences.

To see or dream that you are a character in a video game, suggests that you are feeling controlled and manipulated by others. You feel that you have no control over your actions or are not taking responsibility for them.

"I Failed The Test"

To dream that you are taking an exam, indicates that you are being put to the test or being scrutinized in some way. These dreams highlight some anxiety or agitation that you are experiencing in your waking life. In such dreams, you may find that you cannot answer any of the questions on the test, that the test is in some foreign language or that your pencil keeps breaking during the test. Perhaps time is running out and you cannot complete the exam in the allowed time. Or perhaps, you arrive late and miss the exam. These factors contribute to failing the dream test. These dreams usually have to do with your self-esteem and confidence or the lack of. You tend to believe in the worst about yourself and are often overly worried that you are not making the grade and measuring up to other people's expectations of you. You may also experience the fear of not being accepted, not being prepared, or not being good enough.

Test dreams also suggest that you are feeling unprepared for a challenge. Rarely, these dreams are about the actual content of the test, but rather it is more about the process and how you feel during the exam taking process. These feelings often parallel how you are actually feeling in a particular challenge or situation in your waking like.

Test dreams are also an indication that you are being judged. These dreams serve as a signal for you to examine an aspect of yourself that you may have been neglecting and need to pay more attention to. You may be harboring some guilt because you did not prepare enough for a school exam, meeting, business project, or some project. Most of the time, though, people who have such dreams are unlikely to fail a test in real life. This dream is rooted in the fear and anxiety that you may not meet other's standards. You are afraid to let others down.

Having the Right Weight Loss Mindset

Having the Right Weight Loss Mindset
Jenny Craig Article
August 2010, Volume 3

Being consistent with your eating and activity plans is essential for a positive Weight Loss Mindset. Setting realistic goals, staying positive and regularly rewarding yourself for your positive changes are all important to maintaining motivation and focus throughout your weight loss journey.

Visualize Your Success - Weight loss involves more than making healthy eating choices and increasing your activity, it also takes perseverance and creativity. First, think about your weight loss goal and make sure that it is specific, realistic and motivating for you. Keep in mind that you didn't gain your weight overnight, so do not expect to lose it overnight either. Aim for a weight loss of one to two pounds per week. Next, think about what your motivators are to lose weight - are you hoping to attain health benefits, have more energy or have a better outlook on life? Finally, visualize the future you. How do you look? How do you feel? Where are you and what are you wearing? Who are you with? This is the image you want to keep with you each and every day. Whenever your feel that your motivation is waning, hold that image in your mind and remind yourself that you deserve to be the best "you".

Track Your Progress - Self-monitoring (tracking your food intake, physical activity, feelings and measurements) can be a powerful motivational tool. There's nothing more inspiring than seeing your weight loss progress over time. This can also give you insight into how different aspects of your daily life (such as stress or differing activity levels) can impact your weight loss. To begin self-monitoring, write down what you eat each day, what type of activity you participate in and how you feel. Weigh yourself once a week, and for consistency, use the same scale, day and time. Take your measurements (chest, waist, hips) once a month. Also, taking photos throughout your weight loss journey, such as in the beginning, when you are halfway to your weight loss goal, and when you meet your goal is a great way to see your progress. Remember, you can use Jenny Craig's free online eTools or your Jenny Craig Menus instead of a notepad for extra convenience.

Reward Yourself - The small steps we take along the way are often just as important as reaching our final destination. For example, choosing to snack on an apple instead of a candy bar may seem like a small change but it is these types of changes that get us where we're going over time. Be sure to make a list of non-food rewards and treat yourself as you meet goals throughout your journey. Acknowledging each success along the way is vital. A small reward could be a new magazine subscription or a new set of workout clothes. Plan for bigger rewards when you reach certain milestones, such as when you reach your halfway weight goal. This is a major milestone to celebrate so plan something a little extravagant such as a facial, a full day at a spa or the golf course, or perhaps a new haircut. Whatever it is, make it special because you're worth it!

In a Rush? This Supper's a Snap

This is an awesome recipe that happens to be healthy and delicious and can be made in a snap when you're short on time and need a quick dinner. Red pepper and asparagus not only give this dish its colorful appearance but they also contribute a host of important nutrients, including heart-healthy lycopene and folic acid. You can use frozen shrimp if you can't get to the store to buy fresh. Serve with a healthy whole grain like quinoa or whole-wheat couscous and you've got a balanced meal.

Lemon-Garlic Shrimp and Vegetables

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 2 large red bell peppers, diced
  • 2 pounds asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound raw shrimp (26–30 shrimp per pound), peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Preparation
  1. Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add bell peppers, asparagus, lemon zest, and 1/4 teaspoon salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are just beginning to soften, about 6 minutes. Transfer the vegetables to a bowl; cover to keep warm.
  2. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons oil and garlic to the skillet and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add shrimp and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Whisk broth and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth, and add to the skillet along with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring, until the sauce has thickened slightly and the shrimp are pink and just cooked through, about 2 minutes more. Remove from the heat. Stir in lemon juice and parsley. Serve the shrimp and sauce over the vegetables.
